Practice areas include children and youth with anxiety and depressions issues, assisting families with divorce and separation issues, youth going through transition, peer conflicts, bullying, phobias, anger, grief and loss, body image, peer pressure, self-esteem, blended family issues, and family conflict.

I look forward to continued work with existing clients and also to accepting new clients. In addition, I enjoy conducting workshops for children and youth.

During the past 20+ years, I have developed a clinical social work practice that centers primarily on children, youth, and families. Recently, my professional development has focused particularly on anxiety. I have attended training and facilitated workshops in this practice area.

I have a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Regina and I am a Registered Social Worker. I have also completed the three levels of training offered by the Canadian Association of Child and Play Therapy. As well, I have recently completed training by Lynn Lyons on “Teens, Anxiety and Depression: Active Strategies to Move Teens Forward” and by Dr. Gordon Neufeld on “Bullies: Their Making and Unmaking”.

My other additional training includes depression, mediation, family therapy, re-decision therapy, working with angry and resistant children and youth, and play therapy. Play therapy, with its emphasis on "play" as a medium for expression and communication, provides techniques that I will often use in my work with children and families.

When a young person is able to understand their feelings, they can express themselves in healthy ways. The counseling process can help improve communication and, within a family setting, this leads to a deeper understanding of each person’s perspective. As families learn how to listen to each other and individuals validate the needs of others, we begin to see positive improvements in family dynamics.
